Katherine was first introduced to Traditional Thai bodywork as a bike-to-work commuter in Portland, OR while working for two Naturopathic doctors. After suffering with hip flexor tightness due to overuse, she decided to give something different a try and after only a few sessions, she decided to pursue study in massage so that she could help others through the practice of Traditional Thai physical medicine. She is very passionate about educating her clients about body awareness and helping those with chronic pain. Her goal is to improve the lives of her clients by being a facilitator in the healing process and helping each individual get to where they want to be in their bodies. She is grateful for being exposed to Traditional Thai Bodywork and hopes to extend that gratitude to the rest of her community in her practice.
With a Bachelor's degree in human anatomy and physiology, and graduate level work in nutrition she is familiar with how the human body works but was amazed at how this ancient therapeutic work has such a profound affect on the body's ability to heal itself. She has studied under two instructors who both spent time perfecting their craft in Thailand, Gretchen Hogue, LMT in Portland, OR and Rick Haesche, LMT in Newington, CT. She searches out opportunities to expand her knowledge and has taken Thai Element theory with Nephyr Jacobsen, LMT and has mentored with Michael Gill, LMT both in Portland.
In addition to practicing therapeutic massage, Katherine loves gardening, hiking with her dogs, cross country skiing, traveling and spending quality time with her husband and two beautiful children. She splits time between life in Newport News, VA and Cable, WI.
